DCPD/CPD
Derivatives
CPD is made by thermally cracking DCPD, using CXI - Texmark technology.
DCPD and CPD can then reacted to produce a variety of specialty
products, including:
-
DCPD alcohol (also known as Cydecanol) - This is a
derivative of DCPD that adds an -OH group to the DCPD molecule.
It is a
material that contains both an alcohol group and a double
bond. It can be incorporated into resins such as vinyl esters,
used as in intermediate for fragrance materials, or hydrogenated
to the corresponding saturated alcohol.
-
Resin Intermediate 300 (RI-300) - this is a proprietary
product used as an intermediate in the production of hydrocarbon
resins. It is oligomers (short chain polymers) made from
C5 olefins and diolefins. Texmark is the only supplier of this
product,
shipped to resin producers in the U. S. and overseas
-
Methyl Cyclopentadiene and Methyl Dicyclopentadiene. Developmental
products, not currently in production.
Alcohols
N-butanol is refined from streams from the "Oxo"
plants in the area. It is sold as a solvent in paints, coatings,
and thinners. Solvent products are sold by CXI Solvents,
L.L.C.
Texmark offers contract processing in several areas:
Commercial:
-
Distillation - columns up to 50 actual trays, and 5 foot
in diameter, with vacuum to 28" Hg. The material of construction
is carbon steel
-
High pressure, continuous hydrogenation (up to 2,000 psi).
The unit is carbon steel, and is rated for 450 F.
-
Batch reactors - from 1500 to 2500 gallon in mild steel, stainless,
and Inconel Temperature to 550° F and pressures up to 600
psi.
-
Continuous reactor - trickle bed, and rated for 450° F
at 2,000 psi.
Semi-works:
-
Batch Reactors of 60 and 100 gallons in Inconel 600 and 316
SS. They are rated for pressures up to 80 psig. The rated temperatures
are up to 550 F.
-
Continuous Distillation columns - 10 feet tall, packed with
rigid packing. Made of 316 SS. They can be operated at pressures
from 10 mm absolute to 100 psig.
